A Mathy Award Exhibition
First and foremost a photographer by training, Peggy Feerick’s work
is often non-traditional in nature. This exhibition features her work completed
during a Mathy
Award sabbatical. Using images captured on video, slide and negative film,
she has created visual documents of her travels to Burma (Myanmar), a country
suppressed by military rule, yet unsurpassed in beauty and steeped in Buddhist
teachings.
In
Burma, she recorded her personal visual responses to the land and its people
and
upon returning home transformed these images into the photographs and
installations seen in this exhibition. The installation entitled "Tambadipa" (Copper
Land) is a collaboration between Feerick and sculptor Rebecca Kamen, who
joined her on her travels to Burma.
