Scott
Beaulier
has just won the Southern Economic Associations award for Outstanding
Graduate Student in the South. Scott will receive his award and present
a chapter from his dissertation at the SEA meetings next month in San
Antonio, TX.
Scott has also won the Don Lavoie Memorial Graduate Student Contest
conducted by the Society for the Development of Austrian Economics which
meets in conjunction with the SEA meetings.
Chris Coyne (with
Peter Leeson) has a forthcoming article in Kyklos on the role of the
media in economic development. Chris and Peter, as part of the Mercatus
Center's Global
Prosperity Initiative, spent two months in Romania this summer doing
research on the barriers to entrepreneurship.
Peter
Leeson recently completed a year at Harvard University
in the program on Political Economy and Government.
